On 3 October 2016, the High Commissioner to Nauru, Mr John Donnelly, and Australia's High Commissioner to Fiji, Ms Margaret Twomey, met with Nauru's High Commissioner to Fiji, Ms Kim Aroi, to sign a condolence book in remembrance of His Honour the Chief Justice of Nauru, the late Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi, at the Nauru High Commission in Suva.
His Honour Justice Madraiwiwi was appointed as Nauru's Chief Justice in September 2016 and, through his extensive experience, made significant contributions in his duties to the Nauru judiciary.
