Direct Aid Program 2017-18: Two projects funded

The Australian High Commission received a high number of quality applications for the Australian Direct Aid Program (DAP) 2017-18.

The DAP Committee considered all applications carefully and are pleased to be funding two projects that best met our criteria:

  • Women's Rugby Project
  • Dog Control Project

The High Commission looks forward to providing updates on these projects after they start in 2018.

Background to DAP

The DAP is a small grants fund that aims to:

1.         Support small-scale projects which can then continue and sustain themselves.

2.         Advance developmental objectives and address humanitarian hardship.

3.         Benefit as many people as possible.

The Australian High Commission can provide grants of up to AUD$15,000.

Our focus for 2017-18

This year we wanted to build on the previous success of  DAP Projects including the popular Anibare Boat Harbour Clean Up and others in previous years.

We were particularly looking for projects that included one or more of the following:

  • new and innovative activities
  • facilitate new community partnerships
  • consider and work with the program of events planned for Nauru's 50th Anniversary of Independence
  • target women and/or people with a disability

Applications for this year's DAP funding closed on Friday 29 September 2017.
The next funding round for 2018-19 will open in August-September 2018. Please check this website for updates closer to this time.
